Description:  The image of the last ruler of copan, yax-pac is inscribed on this bone. the bone was found sealed in a deep shaft in the floor of the central chamber of structure 11, along with obsidian blades, bird bones and human teeth. this deer tibia is inscribed with simple text: an eroded introductory verb, followed by yax-pac's name at b1; at b2-a3, he is named as a three-katun ahau; a batab title completes the inscription. an unnamed woman at left, is dressed in a jaguar pelt skirt. both stand on skyband symbols, but he is supported and elevated by a large venus symbol.

Notes:  Ad 750-800. this representation of yax-pac, with a beard and domed haircut, is very similar to his portrait on stela 11, which is a posthumous monument set in front of structure 18, his funerary pyramid.

Description:  Stela 12, september 15 ad 795, ruler sitting atop a flight of stairs receives two war captains, who present him with a pile of captives. eight captives are tied together on the lower register, and many show signs of having been tortured. ruler wears what could be a shrunken human body or possibly an olmec heirloom.
